Too Cold For Comfort – By: Nisha J. Tuli

Too Cold for ComfortToo Cold for Comfort by Nisha J. Tuli

This was such an adorably WYLD little romance book. It has all the cute, cozy romance you want, but underneath it are these very real conversations about seasons, rhythms, memories, family expectations, modern-day influence, and what happens when you spend so much time doing what you think you're supposed to do that you forget to ask yourself what you actually want.

Basically… rhythm over rush, but make it a romance novel.

Good Vibes About This Book:

Nature is basically another character: Polar bears, photography, the Northern Lights, the cold, the landscape... I loved all of it. There's something about the way this book uses nature to remind you that we don't control everything. We don't control the seasons; we learn how to move with them.

The Northern Lights: More personal cause it’s still on my list of things to see cause I lived in Minnesota for 20-some years and NEVER saw them. Then I moved to California and suddenly my parents are sending me pictures of them clear as day from the farm.

The small town community and roots running deep: There's the warmth of a tight-knit community and people genuinely caring for one another, but also tourism, money, entitlement, and those people who assume having enough money means they should be able to get whatever they want, whenever they want… just cause they say so.

Being loved doesn't always mean being understood: I really appreciated the family dynamics in this book. From both sides cause no one has perfect family, and no family is truly ‘normal.’ Plus family roles and expectations can place more pressure on someone than they realize.

The expectations placed on women: This is a theme I’ve become more and more aware of in real life and books…but I love how Nisha actually talks about it and writes about it in this book. There are conversations about women taking care of everything while men simply get to exist, expectations around marriage and relationships, and the idea that a woman should somehow give up pieces of herself for another person because that's just "what you do."

Learning through the process: There's no magical moment where suddenly everything makes sense. Clarity comes through living, trying, traveling, meeting people, making choices, time moving forward, and slowly remembering who you are and what actually matters to you.

Even though this book was adorable, funny, well-paced, and romantic… it left me thinking about some bigger things in life: Nature is WYLD, we don't control the seasons, we move with them. And life is like those seasons…Some seasons bring rough weather (or rough times) some are light and fresh, and others can be cold and dark… but none of them stay forever. I think sometimes life is about finding our rhythm, trusting what we learn along the way, and truly listening to our wyld hearts.

Thanks to Nisha and NetGalley for the ARC, took me longer to read because of crazy summer schedules… but it was a nice reminder to slow down a little… pretend I got stuck in a snowstorm in the middle of July. 😂

Stay Curious. Stay Kind. Stay Wyld.
